| The Teak News Delivery Service was developed
for the Wierson News Agency of Portland, Oregon, by Teak Systems Incorporated,
Inc. utilizing a software engine that was already successfully serving
three other industries. It was designed and built with a flexible
structure so that it can be configured to the individual needs of
many news delivery service companies. Teak Systems Incorporated also
provides services to the courier industry as well as other industries,
although our main focus now is supporting the news delivery industry.
Teak Systems Incorporated has developed the next generation of field
force automation services centered around a server-based database
engine named Teak. Teak is an SQL database optimized for high transaction-rate
processing of field data. The Teak engine constitutes 80-90 percent
of a field force automation solution. The remaining part is the
customization to the particular solution that the customer requires.
This means that a custom solution can be implemented rapidly, where
the complete design can be made specifically to fulfill the individual
customer need.
One of the strengths of Teak is its ability to incorporate a wireless
(or docked) communications capability from a variety of sources,
including cell phones, pagers, PDAs, laptop computers or actually
any source that can send and receive wireless communications or
transmit data through the Internet from a docking station. This
allows different devices to be easily brought on line to support
a single application seamlessly and securely. And, when wireless
scanners become cost effective for the newspaper distribution industry,
Teak will be ready to support them.
