In the newspaper delivery industry, there
are two main sources of inaccurate data:
- There are countless “exceptions” and last minute
changes in operations that are difficult to manage without a systematic
approach. And a systematic approach is often too expensive to
implement - in dollars and time.
- There are many pieces of data that are written down - in poor
conditions - and then transcribed to a computer giving rise to
opportunities for both mis-reading the data and mis-keying it.
The Teak system improves the quality of the data by providing a
systematic way for all the details to be managed - efficiently and
inexpensively - and by offering a handheld device feature that allows
the driver to post the data to a handheld computer eliminating the
opportunity for transcription errors. Here are a few specific features:
- When the publisher shorts the draw (or delivers extras) the
“Global Temporary Draw Change” feature will allow
you to proportionately reset the draw for all locations or for
a certain publisher region or a specific route. You can automatically
apply the changes on a basis where those locations earlier identified
as “No Draw Change Allowed” will be skipped.
- The Teak “Lead/Lag” feature can be used to indicate
those locations that receive delivery either earlier than or later
than the publication date. The Route Delivery Sheets will automatically
show those draws on the correct day.
- A report that identifies returns that exceed draws for a particular
publication for a particular customer location allows you to immediately
investigate what is an obvious clerical error.
- Returns audit - let’s you cross check the returns recorded
by the driver with what he actually physically brought back.
