Following are some of the Teak features that support efficient communications with publishers:
  • The system will store the publisher’s identification numbers for locations and various publisher reports will automatically present the publisher’s codes instead of the distributor’s codes. Also, when the publisher sends the distributor a list of draw changes - referring to the publisher’s codes - the Teak system will translate those publisher codes to the distributor’s codes and update the draws correctly.
  • The system maintains records on the region grouping used by the publisher and it “maps” a distributor’s locations to those regions.
  • The Teak system will produce spreadsheet reports for publisher affidavits that present data broken down by the publisher’s regions and that distinguishes between reported data and data adjusted later.
  • Publishers can have direct access - via an Internet logon to the Teak system - that allows them access to the data on their publications recorded by the distributor. But data is made available only with the permission of the distributor and access is allowed only to data for publications that belong to the publisher.

With respect to data made available to publishers, Teak Systems Incorporated considers that data to be “owned” by the distributor and each distributor controls a switch that makes that data available to a publisher or not. At any time the distributor can turn the switch on or off, publication-by-publication. Data made available to publishers is limited as follows:

  • Basic access: Actual delivery and return data in summary form including data related to the account between the publisher and the distributor
  • Extended Access: Customer location names where the publisher’s publication is delivered
  • Direct Access: Standard Draw data (future draw quantities) and Special Draw data (one-time draws) and the ability to modify those quantities.
